There isn't much to do before school starts, so I watched some movies which goes agianst my principle of productiveness. The Hangover was boring; it was so unrealistic that it made me skeptical of small details making me into an unhappy smartaleck. The schoolteacher bachelor made me think of Seth Green in Entourage because they both sound and act the same. Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince made me feel that the director was just trying to get all the details and quirky storylines into the movie. I did not appreciate the cutscenes where the camera would wander around the setting and magical animations would attempt to amaze the audience. Ron is a shallow character who can't see Hermione's lust for him and all the puppy love in the movie bores me. Especially since the puppy love makes talking awkward and choppy and the acting mundane. What is it with Harry's acting? It blows. I like Snape's acting though, but maybe it's easy for him because his character doesn't really do anything but talk with severity and stiffness. By now, people only watch Harry Potter because of the books. No wonder HP lost a star by the fifth movie.
I agree they are formulaic but at this point I have to admit you're right...I watch the movies because of the books! The guy who plays Snape *always* gives a great performance. If you like Alan Rickman as an actor you should watch the movie "Galaxy Quest." It's a hilarious takeoff on Star Trek the TV series.
